Quadrent, Fonterra and HCLTech Collaborate to Donate 75 Laptops to Fairfield College

Quadrent, Fonterra, and HCLTech donate 75 laptops to Fairfield College, enhancing digital access and supporting student success in New Zealand.

Quadrent is pleased to have collaborated with Fonterra and HCLTech to donate 75 ex-lease laptops to Fairfield College. This project reflects a shared commitment to supporting communities in New Zealand.

Around half of the students at Fairfield College, located in Hamilton, do not have access to their own learning devices, creating barriers to their academic progress.

These devices have been used to launch Te Arawhiti Matihiko Kaupapa – The Digital Bridge Project, providing students without personal device access at home the opportunity to check them out from the school library. Additionally, some of these devices are used in the classroom. As Fairfield College continues to expand its range of digital tools for student learning, they will be instrumental in helping senior students complete NCEA credits and exams.

Fairfield College Principal, Richard Crawford commented on the initiative saying, "This contribution is truly transformative, and we are incredibly appreciative.

“At Fairfield College, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. We also believe that by ensuring equitable access to technology, we create a vibrant and supportive learning environment that benefits the entire Fairfield College community.”

Fonterra’s Collaboration with Quadrent

DJI_0009Fonterra, a long-standing customer of Quadrent’s IFRS 16 lease accounting software (LOIS), also leases its mobile phones through Quadrent’s Green Lease initiative. Quadrent is the approved end-of-life asset management vendor for Fonterra’s global technology integrator, HCLTech.

The collaboration explores innovative ways to reduce e-waste and improve digital inclusion by repurposing technology at the end of its lease. This particular Quadrent Green Lease for mobile phones includes a digital exchange component, where a portion of the mobile phones will be exchanged at the end of their lease for additional laptops that can be donated to more schools across New Zealand.

Paul Auckbarally, Head of Sourcing and Vendor Management at Fonterra, says, “We are always looking for ways to reduce e-waste and this initiative is a great example of collaborating to find a solution. We’re proud to support the Quadrent Green Lease initiative with our IT partner HCLTech to improve digital inclusion. It’s great to see the positive impact these computers will have on rangatahi at Fairfield College.”

Fonterra’s decision to support Fairfield College aligns with its commitment to positively impact the communities it operates in. Fairfield College is part of the KickStart Breakfast programme, a community partnership between Fonterra, Sanitarium, and the Ministry of Social Development, which provides milk and Weet-Bix to schools across New Zealand.

Working Towards a Brighter Future

Quadrent is dedicated to creating a better future by repurposing technology where it’s most needed. The impact on Fairfield College’s students is a prime example of how collaborations like this can drive meaningful change.

Quadrent CEO, Martyn Masterson, commented: “This partnership exemplifies the positive power of collaboration between New Zealand’s largest organisation using our Green Lease structure to create meaningful and repeatable digital inclusion outcomes for all Kiwi kids.”
